Troop 423 was founded by members of the then-new community at Holy Name of Mary over 50 years ago. We are blessed with enthusiastic leadership that adheres to the principles and values of Scouting. Our primary objective is to have fun — and in the process, each Scout develops the leadership skills and values that are at the heart of Scouting.
This is a youth-led troop: the Scouts elect their leaders, plan the yearly calendar, and run the meetings. Adults train, coach, and keep everyone safe.
“A week of camp life is worth six months of theoretical teaching in a meeting room.” — Lord Robert Baden-Powell
What we do
- Camp — monthly outings: backpacking, climbing, aquatics, canoeing, skiing, and summer camp every year
- Lead — every Scout is trained for leadership and given real responsibility
- Serve — service projects, Scouting for Food, Eagle projects, and community events
- Advance — a clear trail from Scout to Eagle, at each Scout’s own pace
